Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 5-10-2018

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 705.62 and surface temp at the dam is 67 degrees.

Seems the spawn is mostly over for crappie. There are a few males still on the bank but best fishing now is on the summer pattern. Crappie are in the timber suspended down 6 to 10 feet and being taken dipping both minnows and SWARM jigs.

Bass are bedding in two to five feet of water on steeper banks half way to all the way back in the creeks and coves. Black and blue jig and frog, and black lizards are producing, as well as some top water early and late in the day.

Cats are still best on cut shad deep near the dam in 15 to 40 feet of water.

A few hybrids being caught on the humps, and the white bass should show up soon. Live shad and 4 inch char sassy shads on 3/4 ounce heads slow rolled on the bottom are best for hybrids.

That is it for this week. Great warm weather ahead in the week to come so come on down to Sterett Creek Marina and get in on the action!!!
