Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 6-7-2018

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 707.08 and water surface temp is 82 degrees.

Well true to Truman's reputation with the hot weather the fishing has gotten much better. Seems like almost all species have fired up.

Crappie continue to be good in the Sterett Creek Area on the brush piles and in the timber. Look for brush piles on the flats near the dam in 8 to 20 feet of water and fish minnows or Swarm Jigs just at the top of the brush. Best jig colors have been blue and white or pink and white. If fishing minnows take at least two scoops as you will be wading thru a lot of small fish to catch your limit of 10 to 12 inch fish. Long pole the timber with minnows fished 8 to 12 feet deep on the flats.

White bass and hybrids are picking up on the humps with both spoons and sassy shads 4 inch on the 3/4 ounce Bob Bates head working well. Fish are in 8 to 15 feet of water, and some are busting shad early and late in the day. Best bite is during generation at the dam.

Large mouth have really picked up on the main lake points on top waters early and late in the day, and a variety of soft plastics mid day. Brush hogs and 10 inch worms doing well with good fish in the 3 to 5 pound size range.

Blues and channels still good on jugs and rod and reel with cut shad in 8 to 15 feet of water on the main lake flats.

Walleye have been really good on the river below Truman Dam trolling deep diving crank baits on the high spots. Char and crawfish patterns are best.

Come on down to Sterett Creek Marina and get in on the action. See ya on the lake!!!!!
