Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 9-19-2018

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 707 and water surface temp is 79 degrees.

It has been a good week on Truman for most species. Blue cats, crappie, whites and hybrids, and even a few walleye.

Blue cats on jugs up to 40 plus pounds came in yesterday at Sterett Creek. The guys were using perch for bait in 12 to 18 feet of water.

Crappie have been on brush piles and stump fields in 14 to 18 feet of water two feet off the bottom with minnows. The action is not as fast as it has been but we are taking limits of 10 to 12 inch fish in 3 to 4 hours. Once you catch a few work the area slow as they are bunched up. Best fishing has been in Sterett and Little Tebo for me this week.

When they are running water in the afternoon the whites and hybrids have been good at the dam jigging 1/2 ounce Bob Bates spoons on the front drop of the weir in 13 to 18 feet of water. We took two big hybrids this week one 12 and one 15 pounder.

Took a couple of 5 pound walleye this week in 15 feet of water on flats near the dam with minnows.

Large mouth are still best half way back in the coves with top water early and the square bills up in the day fished in cover in 4 to 8 feet of water.

Drunken Minnow open tonight 9-8-18
