Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 9-6-2018

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 706.20 and water surface temp is 80 degrees.

Crappie bite has slowed from some near the dam but the key is with the drop in water temps and the rise in water level to move into the mouths of the coves and creeks. The shorter days have put the fish on the move to fall patterns. Look for brush or standing timer and fish 6 to 10 feet down in these ares. Minnows have produced better for me than jigs.

Blue cat bite is still very good on cut shad in 12 to 15 feet of water. The key is to find them. They are schooled up and once found it is fast action. Flats in the back half of coves have been good.

Large mouth bite has been fair with spinner baits on the windy days and we have had plenty of those this week. Square bills in char or shad colors have produced. Fish have been in the mouths of the creeks and coves to half way back on the flatter windy banks.

No reports of walleye this week.

Whites and hybrids have been slow but look out in a few weeks. These fish have had little pressure for the past couple of months, and when the water temp gets closer to 70 they will move shallow for the fall and the action will be on!!!!

That's it for this week see ya at Sterett Creek marina!!!
