So long 2021 Season...

We can't believe our 8th season has come and gone as we close today for 2021. We are so blessed to have all you wonderful friends that come down and spend time with us, making memories and making Sterett Creek the place to spend your time off, have fun and relax. Thanks to all of you we were voted the #1 Marina in Missouri by Missouri Life Magazine!! It is important to note too that we truly appreciate our employees, It goes without saying that the number one issue businesses face today is the lack of employees, and we have been fortunate to keep our main employees over all these years. We want to thank all of our employees who have stuck with us through thick and thin and without them we certainly would not be where we are today!

It's been a bit of a transition this years with the hiring of of our Managers Mandy and Travis Persinger. We appreciate you working with us and them as we tightened things up a bit, putting in place some new policies and enforcing old policies more uniformly. Just another growing pain of business! Ken and I have been able to cut back a bit from the stress and strain of running the business 24/7 for the past 7 years. We're hoping that next year we'll be able to travel some during the season! :) We appreciate all the feedback and hope you always bring us your questions, concerns and comments.

This past year the business was great but also a challenge. Early on we came to find that there were indeed supply chain problems and it became an issue in many of the aspects of our business. As many of you know it was impossible to maintain a standard menu at the Drunken Minnow as we never knew what product was in stock. Chicken wings were impossible to get and when they were available we paid nearly three times what we paid the previous year. Cooking oil nearly tripled and again was very difficult to obtain. Who would have thought that beer bottles would become scarce? The same went for boating supplies, particularly items like tubes, ski ropes and life jackets. Even the motel experienced difficulties as we could not buy sheets, towels or pillows most of the year!

We introduced live music at the Minnow on the patio on Saturdays and it was a great success. We plan on continuing this entertainment next year as well. Our new bartender, Jeff, was a big hit and did a great job up front keeping things fun and the drinks flowing. Our new rental boats were also a huge hit, the larger more powerful boats certainly appealed to many families. Customers enjoyed being able to pull tubes with a boat full of people.

As most of you know, we've been waiting  for the approval from the Corps for the many expansion plans that we have for the property. The good news is that we finally, after 15 months, received approval to proceed  on all of our expansion projects. The bad news is with all the supply chain disruptions and incredible inflation either the price has now become prohibitively expensive or we are unable to procure the supplies we need to complete the projects. For example the dock prices increased 50% for just the basic shell and the electrical pedestals for the campground are back ordered for a YEAR!  Unfortunately, the 2 new docks and the new campsites we wanted to put in will be put on the back burner for the time being! With all the marinas on the lake at 100% capacity and campsites almost maxed out, this is not what any of us wants!!

So what are we going to do while we're closed this year? Smaller projects and maintenance for the whole property. We will be working on drainage again in the campground, tiling the floor in the shower house and installing all new stalls. We will be removing much of the old paneling in the motel rooms and replacing them with drywall. We are also going to install a couple of picnic pavilions up at the motel with grills to make it easier for all to enjoy. We are also going to expand the patio area for the Minnow to accommodate the larger crowds that we have been experiencing.

As always, we look forward to  next season. With all the issues our nation is currently facing we are not sure what next year will bring but if there is one thing that you can count on is that the Sterett Creek family will persevere and make the most out of it! God bless all of you and our nation during this tumultuous times! Stay safe, healthy and come back ready to party!!

Sterett Creek on Truman Lake

Marina - Motel - Campground

We are located approximately 3 miles north of Warsaw, MO on US 65.  Sterett Creek is on the shore of Truman Resevoir (commonly referred to as Truman Lake).  Truman Lake is the largest man-made lake in Missouri and is home to many species of fish and wildlife.  Our Marina offers easy access to the Osage, Grand, Big Tebo and Little Tebo arms of the lake.  Our Motel and Campground offer easy access to the Sterett Creek Loop of the Truman Lake Mountain Bike Park.  Sterett Creek is the perfect place for outdoor fun!
