We've been getting a lot of calls since the closures at some Federal/Corps facilities. People are asking about Truman Lake being "open". THE RAMP AT STERETT CREEK MARINA IS OPEN as are all the ramps on the lake!!
We spoke with the Corps this morning and they are closing the Corps campgrounds on Truman Lake for the duration of the outbreak. The ramps will remain open, however the bathroom facilites will be locked up. The local Corps offices are closed as well. They also assured us that they will not be making any moves to close down any of the marinas on the lake.
As of yesterday, the Benton County Health Department issued a letter stating: "there are no indications directing the closure of restaurants or lodging families in Benton County due to the recent COVID-19 cases ... in Missouri. Limitations to seating, going to carry out only, or rooming/not rooming customers in lodging facilities are decisions we are leaving at the managements's discretion. Please understand this may change as the situation progresses." They also included guidelines on cleaning/sanitizing food and lodging establishments in their notice.
We encourage everyone to use common sense in these crazy times. If you are in a high risk group, then you need to make choices best for you to prevent exposure to the Chinese virus. There are no guarantees that once you leave your house you won't be exposed. If you are in the group that's most likely to carry and transmit the virus, then we encourage you to take precautions to prevent spreading the virus to others.
We are all in this together and we will not only survive, but thrive in the long run. Come out to the lake where you can easily maintain your social distancing! Get off the grid and away from it all!!
