Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 1-5-2019

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 710.60 and water surface temp is 41 degrees.

Just wanted to give a quick update on fishing in the Sterett Creek Marina and Truman Dam Area With the water up 4 feet and the water color stained some are saying that

the bite has slowed down. Nothing could be further from the truth. I went on a little scouting trip out of Sterett Creek yesterday and had a great day both weather wise and caught

crappie almost at will. Key pattern was brushpiles close to deep water channel drops or ledges where the top of the brush was 12 to 15 feet below the water surface. A 1/4 ounce

Bob Bates jig-head rigged with a SWARM jig body char and black in color fished right at the top of the brush slayed them. Fish from 10 to 12 inches mixed with a ton of smaller fish made for great action. One tip give the jig as little action as possible to get more bites. Weather for the next week calls for temps from the 40's to mid 50's so the bite should stay strong. Just wanted to let everyone know that the high water has not hurt the crappie bite at all!!!!!!

See ya on the water!!!!!
