Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 11-19-2018

By Steve Blake

Current water level on Truman is 705.65 and water surface temp is 46 degrees.

The recent cold has really dropped the water temp. Still a few whites and hybrids shallow but few and far between. That is the bad news. The good news is that the falling water temps have put other species in predictable winter patterns.

Crappie have been excellent on the bluffs 15 to 20 feet deep. We are fishing a 1/4 ounce Bob Bates special winter jig head dressed with a Swarm jig. Pink head with a char and white or char and pink jig have been working best. If you get a lot of short strikes shorten the jig body by cutting off half of the head of the jig body. This seems to improve hookup percentage. Limits of fish in the 10 to 12 inch range have been fairly easy to catch in the right areas. Just a foot off bottom.

Starting to see large mouth on the steeper main lake chunk rock points hit suspending jerk baits in char or shad colors. Not fast action but good size fish.

Catfish still good but have moved to deeper areas in 25 to 35 feet of water with cut shad drifted being the best pattern. Lots of eater size fish with a few big fish as a bonus.

Looks like Wednesday thru Sunday of the coming week we will have high temps from the low 50's to 60 degrees so should be great days to get in some fishing. Gimme a call at 660-525-0692 to book a day.

Just a quick update on Sterett Creek Marina. Ken and Cathy continue to make improvements this winter with the addition of several new campsites. They never stop making Sterett Creek a better place to enjoy the lake!!!!!!!!

See ya on the water.
