Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 2-13-19

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 708.72 and water surface temp is 34 degrees

Best bite this week has been the crappie, lots of them and good average size. I fished three days and took limits each day in short order. Finding fish in the middle of the deeper coves in 30 to 50 feet of water suspended at depths of 20 to 25 feet in the Dam Area. Idle the coves and watch your graph for the big concentrations of shad. Drop a jig to the top of the shad schools and give it very little action for best results. We used the Bob Bates 1/4 ounce pink head winter jig dressed with SWARM jig bodies Best colors were pink and white, and char and white.

Cats in the 3 to 8 pound size have been good in 20 to 30 feet of water on fresh cut shad.

I have not had any reports on large mouth this week but past experience tells me that the jerk bait bite should be on. Water is a little stained so clown or gold black should be good worked twitch twitch pause on steep main lake and secondary chunk rock points.

The crappie bite should remain strong next week also.

That's it for this week hope to see the Spring weather soooooooon!!!!!!!!!!!!! See ya on the water.
