Current water level is 709.87 and rising water surface temp at the dam is 47 degrees.
Spring is near and warmer water temps have spurred a bite for several species as they feed up pre-spawn.
Crappie are beginning to stage up in the pockets. Upper river arms the fish are 3 to 10 feet deep half way to all the way back in the creeks in 10 to 20 feet of water suspended in the timber. On the lower lake near the Sterett Creek area fish are staging in the coves in 15 to 25 feet of water down 12 to 15 feet suspended in the guts of the coves. Swarm Jigs on a 1/4 ounce Bob Bates head are doing well on both patterns, any combo of char has been good. Look for fish to continue to move in as water temps keep rising.
Bass are getting more active as water temps in the backs of the creeks are 50 to 53 degrees on the warmer afternoons. Spinner baits and chatter baits have been effective in black and blue and char and white. Suspending jerk baits on the main lake points in the cleaner water have also produced.
Cats continue to be good in 6 to 15 feet of water up the creeks as the water rises on cut shad. Lots of slot fish and eaters coming in.
We are only 10 days away from our opening day at Sterett Creek Marina, and Ken and Cathy and the staff look forward to seeing all of our friends this year.
See ya on the water!
