Water level is 709 plus and rising fast after two
days of torrential rain storms. Water surface temp is 71 degrees.
Well with the rising water conditions are changing
daily. As far as crappie are concerned simply adjust your depth to match the
rise. Whether you are fishing brushpiles or suspended fish in the trees however
deep the fish were at 707 adjust to the rise. So at 709 go two feet deeper than
you were at 707. Look for fish to be 8 to 14 feet deep. Minnows are still the
best bet and will be in my opinion all summer.
It ususally takes the bass about three days to move
into the flooded green cover on a fast rise so look for largemouth to be in the
flooded green stuff by Sunday afternoon. Go with spinner baits, buzz baits, and
weightless worms in the backs of the creeks and coves.
Whites and hybrids are still on the humps but I
dont know how long that will last with the rising water. The humps they are on
now will get too deep and they will move to areas and humps that have 10 to 15
feet on top of them as the water comes up. A 1/4 ounce Swarm crappie jig orange
and chartruse in color tipped with a minnow fished on the humps in 20 to 26 feet
of water has taken us limits of hybrids this week fished about one foot off the
bottom.
Cats as they always do on a fast rise will move to
the backs of the creeks in 3 to 6 feet of water and cut shad get the nod for
best bait.
Have a great holiday week end!!! See ya at Sterettt
Creek Marina!!!!
