Truman Lake Fishing Report

fishing report 6-15-2016

Current water level is 709.26 and water surface temp is 82 degrees.
Fishing this week for crappie and whites, and hybrids has really picked up.
Hearing good crappie reports from all arms of the lake except the Osage where the water remains very stained. Everywhere else brush piles and cedars seem to be the best bet. Those piles in 10 to 15 feet of water are producing best numbers fishing minnows right at the top of the brush. Most anglers are having to weed thru alot of small fish on the brush piles to get the good keepers so take plenty of minnows. In the cedars minnows are also the best bet fished on long poles at depths of 8 to 12 feet. The fish in the cedars are harder to come by, but are averaging bigger in size than the brush pile fish.
The white bass and hybrids have with the warmer water started to school on shad busting on top in the morning and evening in several areas. Keep your eyes peeled for this surface activity in the lower Pomme on the humps, and near the dam. Topwaters and sassy shads are the ticket for these schooling fish. Hybrids are running 3 to 8 pounds, and the size of the white bass is great this year with alot of fish in the 2 pound plus size range.
Red shad Texas rigged power worms fished 6 to 12 feet deep and SLOWWWWW on the points and ledges on the main lake are still best for the largemouth. Concentrate on the clearer water areas of the lake for the bass.
Still seeing alot of channels and blues coming in water 3 to 8 feet deep on cut shad. Most of these are on main lake flats, and alot of cats coming at the dam when they are running water.
I would rate the crappie and whites and hybrids as the best action for this week. See ya at Sterett Creek marina!!!
