Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 7-5-2019

By Steve Blake

Current lake level is 732.77 water temp is 74 degrees.

Finally starting to see a bite as the lake settles some but last nights rain has seen it take a slight rise. Been finding crappie on current funnel areas. These are gaps or cuts between islands and the mainland that concentrate the current. Crappie are 12 to 18 feet deep in 20 to 40 feet of water and minnows have been working best.

Bass are on points with a variety of baits working from spinner baits to buzz-baits and top-waters. Shad colored baits are best.

Cats have been good in the flooded flats of the park areas where the grass had been mowed before the water came up. Fish are in 6 to 15 feet of water cut shad and perch have worked best.

Hybrids and whites have been in current breaks and on flooded beaches and roadbeds in 12 to 20 feet of water. Some scattered surface activity early and late in the day. Mid day sassy shads in white or chartreuse slow rolled at the depth fish are suspended working best.

Happy 4th to all.
