Truman Lake Fishing Report

Fishing Report 9-13-19

By Steve Blake

Current water level is 714.91 and water surface temp is 83 degrees.

Well Truman is finally back to a steady fall as the Corps continues to run 30,000 cfs thru the dam. The fall and the current it creates has really picked up the fishing action. White bass and hybrids are stacking up on the current break humps, points, and cuts. They are not on all of the regular places but are on some and once you find them they are stacked up big time. The stained water on the lower Osage near Sterett Creek has been best action for me this week. Look for fish in 10 to 16 feet of water and once found jig a 1/2 ounce Bob Bates spoon off the bottom to catch them. One hint in the really heavily stained water you have to jig the spoon very slowly to get bites. Limits of fish in the 1 to 3 pound range have been common!!!!!!

Crappie are also picking up. Near the dam best bite has been in brush piles that are in 14 to 20 feet of water with minnows fished at the top of the cover. Bite is VERYY!!!!!! light so pay attention and wait till rod tip goes down. Up the Grand and Tebo bite has been in the trees on flats fishing minnows down 8 to 12 feet deep in 10 to 20 feet of water.

Blue cats still very good jugging with cuts shad and perch in 10 to 20 feet of water. Lots of unders and a few overs.

Bass still very good on top-water early and late and plastics during the day. Look for main lake points with current and buck brush bushes.

Looks like a surer weekend for fishing so come on down to Sterett Creek Marina and get in on the action!!!!! See ya on the water!!!!
